Dispersion of black plastic beads
The dispersion of black resin depends strongly on carbon black. Crude carbon black is a very difficult mixture to make color, smoothy but easy to cause dust. Unless large-scale remedies are used, it is easy to make machines or clothes of workers and the working environment messy, not clean. Because of this, manufacturers often choose to buy black masterbatch produced on a kind of plastics, such as PP, PE, ABS …). Plastic carriers are also required to be clean, pure and easy to use.
In addition to easily causing dust to the surrounding environment, carbon black has a characteristic that is difficult to disperse. If people let crude carbon black melt directly during injection molding, the coloring effect will be very poor. Carbon black stripes and spots without dispersion will clearly show at less colored areas. Even standard injection molding machines cannot disperse black carbon effectively.
Carbon black is also confusing for color masterbatch manufacturers. Black masterbatch is produced by single or double screw extruder with very poor dispersion. When the end user mixes or squeezes these black masterbatches, its performance is only slightly better than that carbon black, but the efficiency is also unsatisfied. To achieve a higher level of stable dispersion, a high-level cutting mixer must be used to mix carbon black. With enough power, these mixers can perfectly blend carbon black and original plastic together. The type of carbon black used also affects dispersion. In addition to deteriorating the surface of the product, if producing plastic films with poorly dispersed black masterbatch also significantly reduces the resistance to weather and UV rays of that film.
Compatibility between black masterbatch and plastics
If the black masterbatch you imported have a good dispersion but not blend well with the plastics, the finished product will not gain qualities. Therefore, the production of black masterbatch requires high rheology. Even in some cases, many manufacturers want to reduce costs, so they use the base resin as a recycling material for their black masterbatch. At that time, the compatibility between black masterbatch and this plastic will decrease significantly. If the rheology is not good, problems in the mold over time can occur.
It is worth noting when the dispersion and compatibility are not high, final producers will have to increase the dilution rate to compensate. However, this will only increase the cost of buying more black masterbatch. Moreover, the greater the dilution rate will lead to decrease dispersion.
Brightness of black masterbatch
There are many types of carbon black masterbatch in the market. All kinds of colors and prices are also very different. They will have different sizes, color levels and plastics. In particular, large black masterbatch is often suitable for manufacturing garbage bags, but not for manufacturers focus on producing beauty products, such as TV signs or ultraviolet-resistant, agricultural tubes. For these products, the manufacturers usually only use smaller black pellets with a higher price. In addition, low transparency is also a feature of small black masterbatch.
Stability of black masterbatch
In globalized economy, international customers own quality. Raw materials that require high efficiency and stability are absolutely necessary. If the percentage of carbon black fluctuates, the amount of melted masterbatch needed is not the same. At that moment, to create the same color of the product is not possible. Of course, other factors such as the amount injected and dispersing properties must be appropriate for each shipment.
The coverage comes from the black masterbatch
Another factor that determines the quality of black masterbatch is coverage. This factor is especially important for masterbatches used in plastic waste or recycled polymer. In these cases, the role of black is to cover other colors in recycled plastic. Large-size carbon has poor color ability and does not easily cover all other basic colors. As a result, the final product does not look good on it. During the melting process, the ability to choose the right carbon black with the ability to create a high color to cover the existing color is called the coverage power of carbon black.
